Getting There
There is ample parking at the Wentworth Falls picnic area on Sir H Burrell Drive, accessible via Falls Road from the Great Western Highway.
As this is one of the most popular hiking spots in the Blue Mountains, it’s best to arrive early if you’re visiting on a sunny weekend.
Below is a map of the walk.

Track Notes
The Den Fenella Track is short and fairly easy, though there are some steep sections with steps as the trail descends into the canyon. Most people can complete the walk in under an hour.
Den Fenella Creek
From the picnic area, look for the somewhat hidden trailhead near the picnic tables on the western side of the car park.

A few hundred metres along, you’ll reach a junction with a small footbridge, where the Den Fenella Track meets the Overcliff Undercliff Track.
This means you can easily combine the short walk to Den Fenella Lookout with the 4 km Overcliff Undercliff Track if you’d like to extend your hike.

At the junction, cross the footbridge and turn left, following the signs to Den Fenella Lookout. From here, a 200-metre descent leads you down to the viewing point.
The path follows Den Fenella Creek through lush bushland, with small cascading waterfalls, mossy rocks, and dense vegetation creating a rainforest-like atmosphere.

After crossing a couple more footbridges, the trail brings you to the lookout.
Den Fenella Lookout
The Den Fenella Lookout is a small, fenced vantage point perched on the edge of a cliff, offering wide views over the Jamison Valley.

On a clear day, you can spot several well-known Blue Mountains landmarks from here, including Mount Solitary, Sublime Point, and the Narrow Neck plateau.
When you’ve finished enjoying the outlook, simply retrace your steps along the same trail, climbing back uphill beside the creek.
