About the Lookout

Evans Lookout is one of the best-known and most popular viewpoints in the Blackheath area and across the entire Blue Mountains.

The lookout was named in 1882 after George Evans, a solicitor who lived in the Blackheath area in the 19th century.

It was upgraded in 2022 and now features a well-sized car park and a wheelchair-accessible path leading directly to the lookout.

From the car park, it’s only a short walk along this path to the main viewing area. There’s a shelter with picnic tables behind the viewing area and an accessible toilet nearby.

The lookout sits right on the edge of the cliffs, offering a clear and wide open view into the Grose Valley.

On a clear day, the views are spectacular, but they’re especially striking at sunset and sunrise, when the cliffs glow a distinct orange.
