Glenbrook

Glenbrook is one of the first towns you’ll reach when entering the Blue Mountains from Sydney, located about 60 kilometres west of the city. It’s easy to get to by car or train, with direct access from the Great Western Highway and a train station in the centre of town.

The town has a relaxed, village feel, with local shops, cafés, and parks. It’s a popular base for short bushwalks and also provides easy access to swimming holes and picnic spots.

Bushwalks and Pools

The National Park entrance south of the highway leads to several short walking tracks and other attractions.

Red Hands Cave features Aboriginal rock art, while Jellybean Pool and Blue Pool are popular spots for a swim during the warmer months. Also worth a visit is the Tunnel View Lookout, which offers scenic views over Glenbrook Gorge.

There’s some local history to explore as well, including the historic Lapstone Zig Zag Walk, which leads to the impressive Knapsack Viaduct built in the 19th century.

Stay

While accommodation in Glenbrook is limited, nearby options in towns like Blaxland and Springwood make it easy to base yourself in the area. Alternatively, popular towns like Wentworth Falls and Katoomba aren’t too far away.
