Leura is a town in the Blue Mountains, right next to Katoomba, about 100 kilometres from Sydney. Known for its tree-lined streets and heritage architecture, Leura has a mix of boutique shops, cafés, and gardens that give it a distinct village feel. Leura Mall, the main street, is a popular stop for visitors, with specialty stores, bakeries, and galleries lining both sides.
Gardens
The town is well known for its cool-climate gardens, with several open to the public, especially in spring, when cherry blossoms and rhododendrons are in bloom. Everglades House & Gardens, a National Trust property, is one of the best-known attractions.
It features European-style landscaping and wide views over the Jamison Valley. Leura also hosts garden festivals that draw visitors from across the region.
Walks and Lookouts
Beyond the gardens and shops, Leura has a number of lookouts and bushwalking tracks. Leura Cascades is a short, scenic walk leading to a series of small waterfalls, with access to longer trails heading out to places like Bridal Veil Falls and the Amphitheatre Track. Nearby, you’ll find Tarpeian Rock Lookout and the scenic Pool of Siloam.
A short drive from the town centre, Sublime Point Lookout offers clear, open views over the valley. North of the highway, you’ll find the walking track to Lockleys Pylon and the quiet Fortress Ridge Trail.
