Mount Victoria is the westernmost town in the Blue Mountains, located about 120 kilometres from Sydney. Sitting at an elevation of over 1,000 metres, it has a cooler climate and a quieter atmosphere than the larger towns further east. The town marks the point where the Great Western Highway begins its descent into the Central West region of New South Wales.
Town Centre
The village has a small but historic centre, with a few cafés, antique stores, and a historic cinema. The railway station, built in the 1860s, is still in use and connects Mount Victoria to Sydney via the Blue Mountains Line.
Walking Tracks
While it’s one of the quieter towns in the region, Mount Victoria is close to several lookouts, caves, and walking tracks. Mount Piddington offers scenic views of the Kanimbla Valley and is the starting point for the Cox’s Cave Circuit.
Other nearby walks include the Victoria Falls Track, which leads to a stunning waterfall, and the Asgard Swamp Trail, which features old mine sites and views towards the Grose Valley.
