Perrys Lookdown
Despite the scenic views and the nearby lookouts, walks, and campgrounds, Perrys Lookdown has always remained one of the quieter lookouts in the Blackheath area.

To reach the lookout, follow the easy 100-metre walking trail that starts at the large signpost marked as Perrys Lookdown Track.
The fenced lookout is spacious and safe, though the views aren’t quite as dramatic as those from the nearby Anvil Rock Lookout.

The imposing cliff wall on the opposite side of the valley is known as Banks Wall, with Mount Banks sitting at the top.
Looking down into the valley, you can catch glimpses of the Blue Gum Forest and the Grose River winding through the Grose Valley.

From the lookout, the trail continues to another viewpoint, Dockers Lookout, before steeply descending into the valley toward the Blue Gum Forest.
Dockers Lookout
If you’re not planning to go hiking, it’s still worth visiting Dockers Lookout, as it’s only a short walk from Perrys Lookdown.

The views are similar but from a slightly different angle, and the Blue Gum Forest is more clearly visible from this spot.
Blue Gum Forest
Up for a steep hike? From Dockers Lookout, the walking track continues to the Blue Gum Forest via a steep, zigzagging path.
The walk from the car park is about 2.5 km. While not especially long, it’s a very steep descent, so it’s best attempted only if you’re well-prepared with water and some food.

The Blue Gum Forest is a thriving forest of towering mountain blue gum trees (Eucalyptus deanei), located near the junction of Govetts Creek and the Grose River.
Roughly 750 metres further south (signposted) is the Acacia Flat campground, a remote and peaceful camping area in beautiful natural surroundings, with minimal facilities.
