The Point Pilcher Lookout in the Medlow Bath area of the Blue Mountains offers beautiful views of the Grose Valley and the Grose Wilderness.
This quiet and somewhat hidden lookout offers views similar to other, much more popular lookouts in the Blackheath area, but it is far less crowded.

Getting There
The Point Pilcher Lookout can be directly accessed by car, meaning there is no walking required.
The car park next to the lookout is located at the end of Point Pilcher Road, a quick and easy 12-minute drive from Medlow Bath train station and past the old Katoomba Airfield (see location on map).
The last 4 km of the road is unsealed but can be driven with a 2WD vehicle. Be extra careful after rainfall, as potholes may appear.
About the Point Pilcher Lookout
The Point Pilcher Lookout is a fenced, north-facing vantage point near Medlow Bath, overlooking the beautiful Grose Wilderness.
The lookout was named after Charles Edward Pilcher (1844–1916), an Australian barrister and politician who served in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly and later in the Legislative Council.
If you’re into photography, the best time to visit is either in the morning or in the evening when the cliffs get the most light.
When the sky is nice and clear, you’ll be able to identify several other landmarks in the distance, such as Evans Lookout, Pulpit Rock Lookout, Mount Banks, and Fortress Ridge.
There are also a few picnic tables at the lookout, making this a fantastic spot for a quiet lunch in beautiful surroundings.
Grand Canyon
There are no (official) bushwalking trails at the lookout, but there is an access point to the Old Point Pilcher Walking Track a bit further back on Point Pilcher Road.
That trail connects with the popular Grand Canyon Walking Track in the Blackheath area. The access point is signposted as Grand Canyon, like in the photo above.
We haven’t done this connecting trail, so we can’t say much about it, but it seems like an exciting hiking adventure.
