Getting There

Ample parking is available at the Wentworth Falls picnic area on Sir H Burrell Drive, which is an easy drive from the Great Western Highway via Falls Road.

As this is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Blue Mountains, it is best to arrive early in the day if you are visiting on a sunny weekend.

If you are coming by train, you can do the 2.4 km Darwins Walk from Wilson Park near the station to reach the waterfall area. Otherwise, the nearest bus stop is located at the corner of Fletcher Street and Falls Road.

Update 2026:
The Princes Rock Track is closed until June 2026 due to maintenance, but the lookout can still be accessed via the Overcliff Undercliff Track. From the car park, follow the signs to Wentworth Falls Track, and then look for the junction with Overcliff Undercliff Track.

Track Notes

The Princes Rock Track is a short 250-metre walk from the road to the lookout. If you include the path along the road from the car park, the total distance is about 400 metres one way.

While it is an easy walk, there are a number of steps involved, so it is not wheelchair friendly. However, two other lookouts along Sir H Burrell Drive, Jamison Lookout and Wentworth Falls Lookout, are fully accessible.

The Trail

From the car park and picnic area, follow the footpath along Sir H Burrell Drive to find the start of the Princes Rock Track.

Before heading there, it is worth visiting Jamison Lookout, which is located close to the car park. This accessible platform offers panoramic views across the Jamison Valley and is a great way to start the walk.

From Jamison Lookout, it is a short 150-metre stroll alongside the road to reach the beginning of the Princes Rock Track. Look for the large signpost where the path heads into the bush via a series of wooden and stone steps.

The path is well defined and maintained, though there are quite a few steps. While it is an easy walk on the way down, you will likely feel the climb on the way back up.

From the start of the track, it takes about 10 minutes at an average pace to reach the lookout, passing a couple of junctions for other walking trails.

The Lookout

Princes Rock is a fenced viewing platform that faces the Jamison Valley and sits about 150 metres west of Wentworth Falls.

While the platform is quite small, it rarely gets crowded because many visitors to the area tend to skip this particular lookout.

It is actually one of the few spots in the area that offers a superb view of the entire waterfall. Rocket Point Lookout, located on the opposite side of the falls, offers a similar view.

If you plan to continue exploring the area, we recommend walking back up to the road to visit Wentworth Falls Lookout.

From there, you can take the Wentworth Falls Walk to the top of the waterfall. Once you arrive, you also have the option to descend the historic Grand Stairway to visit the middle section of the falls.
