1. Ardour Lilianfels Blue Mountains
Lilianfels has been a fixture of Katoomba luxury since the early ’90s, and it’s recently gone through a serious glow-up. Now branded as Ardour Lilianfels under Salter Brothers Hospitality, the heritage estate, originally built in 1889 as the summer residence of Chief Justice Sir Frederick Darley, has had a multimillion-dollar refurbishment.
Set on two acres of manicured gardens right on the edge of the Jamison Valley escarpment, it’s the kind of place where you can wander to a lookout before breakfast or just settle by the fire and do nothing much at all. Dining is a highlight, with multiple options on-site including the multi-hatted Darley’s Restaurant and Southeast Asian spot Miss Lilian.
The resort is home to almost 100 rooms and suites, all wonderfully presented and equipped, and the complex comes with a luxury day spa and an outdoor pool (warmer months only).
Ardour Lilianfels is about 90 minutes from Sydney Central, walking distance to Katoomba’s cafes and shops, and close to Scenic World and the Grand Cliff Top Walk for anyone wanting to get out and explore.

2. Parklands Country Garden and Lodges
Set on manicured grounds with its own private lake, Parklands has a bit of a country-estate feel to it; think lush gardens, a European-manor vibe, and a genuine sense of quiet rather than any big resort energy.
There are 31 rooms spread across seven garden cottages and three lakeside canopy tents, so you can pick your level of “away from it all”, from a classic garden suite to something a bit more glamping-adjacent by the water.
Breakfast is served buffet-style at the Lakeview Restaurant overlooking the gardens, and there’s an on-site day spa if you want to build in some downtime. For dinner, it’s a short trip into Blackheath village or to nearby sister property The Hydro Majestic.

3. Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains
The Fairmont is the big one, with 224 rooms, 23 event spaces, and enough on-site activities that you genuinely don’t need to leave the grounds if you don’t want to. It’s an MGallery property (part of Accor) set right on the edge of the Jamison Valley, so plenty of rooms come with proper valley views over World Heritage-listed national park.
It leans heavily family-friendly, with an ice skating rink, indoor and outdoor pools, a KidsZone and school holiday activity programs, alongside the adjacent Leura Golf Course for the grown-ups. There are three restaurants on-site plus Two Doctors Whiskey Tavern, and the award-winning Ubika Day Spa if you want to actually relax rather than keep the kids entertained.
It’s also a serious events venue, so don’t be surprised if there’s a wedding or conference happening somewhere on the property during your stay.

4. Chalets at Blackheath
Just four freestanding chalets, tucked into the bush at the top of the Grand Canyon walking track. This is Blue Mountains luxury for people who want to actually be in the wilderness, not just look at it.
Each chalet is built from rammed earth, natural stone and timber, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking straight onto gum trees (and the odd kangaroo), a wood-burning fireplace, and a limestone bathroom with a deep soaking tub. The eco-credentials are genuine too, with rainwater harvesting, solar power and sustainably sourced materials throughout.
There’s no restaurant on-site, but breakfast is included and leans on native Australian ingredients, and you can arrange a DIY barbecue pack or a Champagne picnic in the edible garden if you don’t feel like leaving. Otherwise, it’s a short drive to well-regarded spots like Lot 101 Megalong Valley or into Blackheath village.
The real drawcard is the location: Evans Lookout is a 600-metre stroll away, and the Grand Canyon Walk starts right from the doorstep, so you can be deep in World Heritage wilderness within minutes of getting out of bed. It’s about 1.5 hours from Sydney, and as one of Australia’s few Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties, it punches well above its four-room size.

5. Spicers Sangoma Retreat
Sangoma is the pick for anyone after total seclusion rather than resort buzz. It’s an adults-only, all-inclusive lodge with just eight suites, tucked into the bush at Bowen Mountain and awarded two Michelin Keys.
The design has a distinct South African influence (a nod to its original name and soul), with animal-hide ottomans, safari chests and tribal artwork sitting alongside timber, stone and floor-to-ceiling glass that frames the valley below. Suites come with private decks, fireplaces and deep baths, and depending on which side of the retreat you’re on, you’ll either catch distant city lights or just the sound of the mountain creek.
Dining is at Restaurant Amara, an intimate degustation built around seasonal, organic produce; vegetables get genuine star billing here. Being all-inclusive, most of what you’d want is already covered: meals, a curated wine list, and access to the infinity pool overlooking the valley. There’s also a solid menu of add-on experiences, from private yoga and rock climbing to canyoning and 4WD eco tours.
